Kent Garneau - "The Man with the Dream..."

Kent Garneau - "Dad" - We miss you...

Just as this exciting project was underway, father and keyboard artist Kent Garneau's life began slipping away. An aggressive form of cancer gripped his body, wrestling the energy from his life. On November 29th, 2007, just 4 weeks after his diagnosis, Kent passed away leaving only a few musical sketches and a dream that his two sons would continue to keep the dream alive.

Kent The “old man” of the group, had been around the block. Primarily self-taught in church as a youth, you can hear the gospel overtones throughout his keyboard work. Growing up listening to the pop favorites such as Billy Joel and Elton John, Kent always longed to play with the freedom and expression afforded by the blues styles. Influenced by Billy Preston, Jimmy McGriff and Gregg Allman, he has begun to create a free flowing style intertwining piano, bass and organ melodies. Playing for over 20 years in small clubs and venues, he had treated music as a way to help others (and himself) to escape. He has had the pleasure to play with “the boys” -- and we really mean the boys -- and it was his privilege to share that with you.

It all started at the House Of Guitars!

In January 2004, we decided to take the opportunity to go and visit this indescribable store/museum. We were greeted warmly and welcomed by salesman extraordinaire, Curt Smith. He guided us through the store and watched as Jordan's eyes lit up as we passed the seemingly thousands of instruments. Jordan just wanted to touch the Les Paul's and Stratocasters. Curt obliged and the union was born. We wound up buying a Les Paul Premium with a rich, sweet sound that I had not heard before. It was made for Jordan, and the H.O.G knew it. It was the nudge he needed.

Several years have passed and Jordan's career is blossoming. He is headed to the recording studio for his debut album, still holding the "Paul" that came home with us that snowy day in Rochester. We have not forgotten the experience of the House of Guitars. We are grateful to the staff, especially to Curt (who is still selling us stuff –amps have followed) for being there and working with us. We will not forget that it really all started with the H.O.G.
